Personalized Books for Sikh Children

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions about MySikhStory.com book orders.

Is MySikhStory a for profit business?
No it is not. Our goal is to have Sikh kids become more confident with who they are and become familiar with some of the basic principles of Sikhi early on in life.
While we are not here to make a profit, we do have a fair amount of investment costs that we are trying to recover, including costs of printing customized books, website development and hosting costs, and book illustration costs. We hope that with the support of people who buy the book, we can offset some of these costs.
How long will it take to receive my book?
In the United States, your customized book should be received by you within 20 business days of your order being placed. Expedited shipping is available as well.

International orders should be received within 30 business days of your order being placed.

Can I get my book shipped to me sooner?
Within the United States, expedited shipping is available for an additional cost of $5.00. You can choose the expedited shipping option on the Checkout page. You should receive your customized book within 10-15 business days.
Do you ship outside of the United States?
Yes, we now ship internationally. Note that international orders outside of the United States will take longer to receive though as our printing is performed within the United States and mailed out to the requesting company. Orders outside of the United States can take up to 30 business days to be received.
Is there a bulk discount available?
Each MySikhStory order is individually processed and shipped. At this time, we are not offering a bulk ordering capability. However, if you are representing a Gurmat school with more than 20 books needing to be printed, please reach out to us via our Contact Us page and we will see what we can do.
When are donations made to the supported Sikh organizations?
It is our honor to be able to donate a Dasvand of the profits of our book sales to organizations such as Khalsa Aid, the Sikh Coalition, Sikh American Legal Defense Fund (SALDEF), etc. that support humanity and Sikhs.

We plan on making checks out to the supported Sikh organizations at the end of the year after we calculate what each organization was pledged by our customers when they placed their book orders.

My Sikh organization is not listed as an option for the Dasvand from book sale profits. Can it be?
We are open to making donations from the Dasvand of our book sales profits to other Sikh organizations/Gurdwaras than we have listed. If you would like to have your organization/Gurdwara benefit from the Dasvand, then contact us via our Contact Us page and we’ll work to make it happen.
I have problems with my order. What should I do?
We deal with problems with your order an individual basis. Please use the Order Inquiry/Concerns page to provide us with your order number and we will work to rectify the issue.
I can't read and write Gurmukhi, but I want to have my child's name in the book. Can you help?
Please provide us your child’s name in the build a book section and checkout page and we will try our best to get the spelling of your child’s name correct in Gurmukhi.
Can I return my book order?
Due to the customized nature of the books, we do not offer returns for our books. All sales are final. However, if there is a problem with your book, we will work out best to make things right.
My child wears a dumalla. Is there a character to represent this?
We are working on it. Unfortunately, adding characters requires a significant monetary and time investment. Please Contact Us as we are trying to see how much interest there is in a character with a Dumalla. If we have enough interest being expressed, we will fast track this request.
How do I order more than one book at the same time?
Right now, our ordering process requires you to order each book individually.
